Ron Miller, the State Representative for the 93rd District of Pennsylvania has proven his leadership abilities and is anxious to lead his neighbors and friends into the future as your next senator…
Serving as State Representative for the 93rd Legislative District has been, and continues to be, a tremendous honor granted to me by the voters. When Senator Mike Waugh announced last July that he would not seek reelection to the Senate, I started a process of evaluating whether I should run for the Senate. As I considered this possibility it became clear the decision was not about me but what was best for the residents of the 93rd House District, the 28th Senate District and York County.
I had not made a decision when Senator Waugh resigned from the Senate to take the position of Executive Director of the Farm Show Complex on January 13th. When Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley called for a special election on March 18th, to fill the vacant 28th Senate seat, I needed to make a decision sooner than I anticipated and on Tuesday January 14th announced I would submit my name to the York County Republican Party to be considered as the Republican nominee for the special election. Your friends and neighbors, the elected Republican committee men and women of the 28th Senate district, nominated me out of a field of three to be their candidate. I’m pleased to be the Republican nominee in the Special Election being held on March March 18th.
The 28th Senate seat is the only seat totally contained in York County and that Senator is the keystone in assuring York County interests are represented during upcoming budget negotiations including education funding formulas and debate on pension reform, liquor privatization, paycheck protection and much more.
The election of a conservative Senator from York County is of great importance because the Senate now stands at 26 Republicans and 23 Democrats. Republican Senators from southeastern Pennsylvania are not as conservative as those in Central Pennsylvania and the defection of two would allow many issues to be decided in a manner not consistent with the wishes of the majority of constituents in York County.
I ask for your support to be the next Senator for the 28th District so I can continue to be a strong voice for York County.”
